I was lucky enough to be given a pair of tickets to tonights Avalanche
hockey game. Row 1 of the club level, center ice. The seats are
incredible! Thank you Archstone!

Cake decorating

Ok so some of you know that over this past month I have been taking cake decorating classes. I have had several requests to post some pictures of my cakes. We only decorated 3 cakes. The first was a snowman cake, the second was clowns, and the third was something with roses. Of course, I am by no means professional but it was fun doing them. Jared liked it too since we got a new cake to eat each week. I made him take it in to work so that I wasn't sitting at home eating it. So here are the pictures.

Kaitlyn's Krazy Crawl

Here's a short video of Kaitlyn's version of crawling.  I'm sure this will change over time to something a little more normal.  In the meantime, we get a kick out of it.

Kaitlyn's big day

So yesterday was a big day for our baby girl. After a month of hard work, she started crawling. It's not exactly the normal crawl but she is definitely on the move. We call it the Kaitlyn Crawl. We were so excited! Now we just have to move things out of her reach. With the crawling, Kaitlyn has built up the confidence to try and pull herself up to standing by bracing herself on me. She is definitely still working on it.

On the other side, she had another first. She made her first trip to the hospital. She has been a little under the weather this last week and has had a pretty bad cough but it has progressively gotten worse and today while she was crawling to me I saw blood coming out of the corner of her mouth. She wasn't acting hurt so we checked her gums, thinking maybe she cut her teeth, but there wasn't anything. So we thought maybe she had coughed up some blood. We called the after hours line for our doctors and they wanted us to bring her in. So we did and fortunately it wasn't anything big she had a pretty good cut on the inside of her cheek which we think she must have fallen with her fingers in her mouth and cut her cheek with her nails. We were so relieved it wasn't anything big. They said it was just a bad cold with her cut and we just need to watch her for a fever.

Lots of firsts!

Mary Kay Consultant

So I must be crazy. As you all know, I was laid off in November. Jobs have been pretty slim pickings since then with the job market being as it is. So I decided to try my hand at selling make-up. It is well known that I have a very sad obsession with make up since doing stage make up in high school and college. So I thought why not put 2 loves of mine together talking to people and playing with make up. I just hope I can sell enough not to regret this decision. :) I will still continue to look for a job but even if I find one I can keep this as a side job. The other advantage to this is if I do well. I can continue to make my own hours and spend more time with Kaitlyn (YEAH!!) We'll see how things go.

Please let me know if you know any one who is interested in the Mary Kay products or if you know someone who would be interested in selling them. There are no "territories" so I can sell to anyone in the US. I am offering free shipping right now to kick things off. I also accept credit cards.

Here is my website. Please feel free to pass it on.

Kaitlyn is 6 months old.

Wow. how time flies. It's hard to believe Kaitlyn is 6 months old today. She is now 18 pounds and 28 inches long.
  1. She is sitting up on her own
  2. She blows raspberries on people and will repeat them if you do them
  3. She is eating more solids like peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, apple sauce and most recently, bananas
  4. Holds her own bottle
  5. She gets up on all 4's and and rocks a lot but not quite crawling. Well not forward anyway. Last night she crawled backward 2 steps.
  6. She is walking more still with support but definitely getting better.
Here are the Teddy Bear pictures.

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year from the English Family. Jared, Lydia and I stayed up until midnight. Kaitlyn didn't quite make it. She fell asleep by 11. We watched Rudolph saves New Years and got the idea to dress her up as Baby New Year. Unfortunately, she was not as excited about the idea as I was. All she wanted to do was eat the sash and was too distracted to smile. We had a Narnia Fest and watched the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian. Then we turned on the countdown at 10 minutes to midnight so we could ring in the new year properly.

Laughing Baby

Okay so I just had to post this because it makes me laugh. When we were in San Diego, Jared made Kaitlyn laugh hysterically. She doesn't really laugh it's more of growling and screeching, but that is our little Kate Monster.

Skiing

So on Tuesday Kaitlyn went to daycare and Jared, Lydia and I went up to Winter Park for a day of skiing and snowboarding. Lydia did so well. She improves each time she goes up. She always has so much fun! Jared and Lydia ski and I attempted to board. Unfortunately, my boots were killing me and I could not play as much so I had hot chocolate and tea and play games on my phone. I was content relaxing and people watching but I wish I could have been up on the mountain and watched Lydia. I only got to see her go down very small hills twice before the shoes hurt me to much.

Visitors

On Sunday my uncle Marc and aunt Debbie from Alaska came through on their way to pick up a plane in Kansas. It was so good to see them. They got to meet Kaitlyn. We had lunch with them which was over too soon. I always like visiting with them. Kaitlyn was a bit fussy since she was still a little off from traveling the day before. One of these days we will actually visit them in Alaska. We mean to and plan to but it always seems to be "next year". We'll get up there some day.

Christmas at home

While we visited San Diego for Christmas we had another Christmas at home. We waited to open family presents and stockings for when Lydia came out on the 28th.  We had a great time. Lydia and Kaitlyn loved their toys. Lydia played with her idog a lot and was asking for me to do her nails with her new petticure set. Here are a few pictures.

First time touching the ocean

While we were in San Diego. We took the opportunity to Have Kaitlyn feel the sand under her feet and dip her toes in the ocean. I know it sounds silly to a lot of people to do this in the winter, but I'm a California girl and to have my little girl not know the ocean is sad to me. So I had to. It was very windy and cold but it was sunny and the waves were beautiful so I couldn't pass it up.  Here are a few pictures.
